Eudora for the Mac was/is my all-time favorite email client. One of its many wonderful features is its amazing customizability. Even in the preferences dialog it is far more adaptable than any comparable program. But there is also a somewhat hidden feature call x-eudora-settings. The somewhat hard-to-find list of "all" x-eudora-settings used to be readily available, but now not so much. The internet archive copy of the old Eudora site is your friend. Find a dead link to the old eudora site, then paste it into archive.org/web, and presto. https://web.archive.org/web/20070103122401/https://www.eudora.com/techsupport/mac/download/X-Eudora-Settings.txt If you create a new empty email message, and type one of these settings, like "", Eudora will change it to a hypertext link. Click on it, and a dialog will open allowing you to see the current setting and change it if you wish. Use this menu to set the font to use in windows. Type the size of the font to use in windows. Enter your login name and the name of your POP server, with an '@' between them. Eg, 'jdoe@anyhost.anyschool.edu'. The host to use to send mail. If you leave it blank, Eudora will use the same server you get your mail from ("Mail Host"). EXPERTS ONLY\n\nYour email address. If you fill this in, be SURE you put in a working address. How often (in minutes) Eudora will check for mail. When checked, Eudora will word-wrap outgoing messages. When checked, Eudora will tell your Internet dialup software to disconnect after mail is transferred. When checked, Eudora will try to guess where paragraphs are when you do a Save As..., and will remove returns that don't end paragraphs. Four-character creator code for the application that the Finder will use to open text files that Eudora saves. Name of the application that the Finder will use to open text files that Eudora saves. Last time (in seconds) Eudora scanned your maildrop to see if it should do deletions. When checked, Eudora will send queued mail whenever it checks mail. Last time Eudora checked for mail to be deleted. Reserved. Number of days to leave mail on server, if you have Leave Mail On Server checked. Leaving it blank means forever. Use this only if the recipient says you have to. Use this menu to select the sound to play when mail arrives. Use this menu to select the sound to play when Eudora needs help. When checked, Eudora will use a more compatible (but much slower) way of building its menus. When checked, Eudora will allow From: fields to be edited in composition windows. When checked, Eudora will do turbo redirect; unchecked, Eudora does regular redirect.\n\nHold down the option key to reverse for a single redirect.\n\nTurbo Redirect redirects the message, queues the redirected message, and deletes the original.
